Description
The South Bend Transportation Club, Inc. Scholarship is available to students attending a university, college, trade school, technical institute, vocational training or other post-secondary education program in the 2009-2010 academic year. You must submit an application and essay at least 250 words and must not exceed 500 words on the following:
"One of our biggest human's invention is transportation. Any kind of transportation conveys not only to people, but also to information. Therefore we can image that the rest of the discoveries could not have been invented without transportation. Choose one of the following transportation vehicles and explain why you think it has changed people's lives"

- Trucks
- Bicycles
- Airplanes

The Program
The South Bend Transportation, Inc. Scholarship is established to assist member’s children and grandchildren who plan to continue education in college, trade school, or vocational-technical school.
Eligibility
Applicants to the South Bend Transportation Club, Inc. must be:
- A student of any year who plans to or already enrolled full-time in a accredited two or four year college, trade school, technical institute, vocational training or other post-secondary education program within the United States for 2009-2010 school year. Failure to enroll in an accredited college or university for the 2009-2010 school year will result in disqualification.
- Applicant must be a citizen of the United States of America. (Permanent residents who are not citizens are NOT Eligible.)
* Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted children living in the member’s household.

Award
One (1) scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $500.00 for students attending a two or four year college, trade school, technical institute, vocational training or other post-secondary education program. Awards are for undergraduate study only. The award funds will be given by check directly to the recipient.
Application
Interested students must complete the South Bend Transportation Club, Inc. application and mail it in along with the essay, to The South Bend Transportation Club, Inc., P.O. Box 687, Granger, IN 46530. The application and essay will only be accepted when submitted through the mail and postmarked on or before July 31, 2009.
Selection of Recipient
The recipient is awarded by the SBTC to a student whom the judges feel proved the most interesting answer to the essay. The recipient's essay is judged by the eligable Board Members blind vote. (Board members with a child and/or grandchild is not eligable to vote). Each Board Member will select in order the their top three choices. Each choice has a point value. The applicant with the most points is chosen the recipient. Recipient will be notified by August 15, 2009.
Obligations
Recipient has no obligation to the South Bend Transportation Club, Inc.
Additional Information
The name of the winner, the winner of the member’s name, the winner’s major, the name of the winner’s school, and their essay will be posted on the South Bend Transportation Club, Inc. web site at www.sbtrans.org only after the scholarship has been awarded.
